Open studio event on April 19 is sponsored by Austin’s Canopy and Big Medium groups.
AUSTIN — Arts organizations Canopy and Big Medium are having their monthly open studio event –- known as Open Canopy — on Friday, April 19, from 7 pm to 10 pm. The event, which takes place at 916 Springdale Road, Austin, near the intersection with Airport Blvd., is free and open to the public.
Artists Cecilia Colomé and Fernando Muñoz have invited Rag Blog readers to visit their studio in Building #1, Studio 105.
Other open studios include those of Keith Keeger, Rebecca Bennett, NJ Weaver, Flip Solomon, Kristy Darnell Battani, Cheryl Finfrock, Kevin Munoz, emily galusha, Ann Flemings, and Brian Maclaskey. Open exhibitions include Big Medium Unity of Opposites, Modern Rocks Gallery, and Son of a Sailor.
Big Medium, a nonprofit organization dedicated to championing and cultivating artists and the contemporary arts in Austin and across Texas, produces the East Austin Studio Tour (East), the West Austin Studio Tour (West), and the Texas Biennial, and presents innovative exhibitions throughout the year in the Big Medium Gallery. Canopy is a creative community set within a rehabilitated East Austin warehouse.
