Moon Musings: The Full Moon falls on Saturday, May 21, 2016, but can also be observed on Friday or Sunday.
You may celebrate this month’s Full Moon on Friday, May 20, Saturday, May 21, or Sunday, May 22. Saturday is the Full Moon, a Flower Moon or Hare Moon, and activities that will assist you in reaffirming goals would be most appropriate.
This is a time of high energy and power which may be complicated by current retrogrades: Juno, Saturn, Mars, and Pluto are all retrograde during this full moon and these combined energies will work to slow down thought processes as well as progress. Factor in Mercury’s retrograde, which continues until Sunday, May 22, and you add the possibility of incomplete or inaccurate information. Lord Sun’s entry into Gemini on Saturday is another complication as Gemini influences communications of all kinds, which can be more difficult during a Mercury retrograde.
Call on matron goddesses such as Cerridwen, Aphrodite, and Isis to assist you in your endeavors. Focus your energies on goals already set that need a boost of fresh energy to reach completion. Take time to plan in advance what you want to voice to Spirit. Remember the anagram KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and confine your attention to not more than two goals needing completion at this time. Pay attention to the words you choose: be as precise as you can. Vagueness could lead to unexpected and not always pleasant results. Holding the vision of your completed project clearly in your mind as you chant will also be helpful.
If you honor this Full Moon on Friday, Venus is the ruling planet and loving kindness should be reflected in your approach to Spirit. Wear something green; be outside and barefoot so you can feel the earth beneath your feet if at all possible, with a container of water nearby to add the Water element to your proceedings (if you cannot be outdoors and barefoot, have a potted plant or other Earth source as well as a container of water nearby); sprinkle some water around you before beginning your chant. Repeat your chant seven times.
If Saturday is a better day to honor the Full Moon, Saturn rules; your goals should be visualized and voiced clearly and simply and according to whatever rules or laws govern them. Be barefoot and outdoors to feel the earth beneath your feet if possible (or have a potted plant or other Earth close enough for you to touch the earth before beginning your chant). Repeat your chant three times.
If Sunday is the best time for you to invoke Full Moon energies, Lord Sun rules; this fiery energy will make it even more important to keep your energies narrowly aimed and your goals clearly visualized. Wear something yellow or gold and have a lighted candle nearby to incorporate the Fire element into your workings. Repeat your chant six times.
Here is a suggested chant, but feel free to create one of your own:
Moving forward as best I can
No retrograde will slow my plan
One step at a time and bit by bit,
I’ll reach my goal – a perfect fit!
